Patrick started his career by joining the Coast Guard in 1989. After serving eight years in the Coast Guard, Patrick earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Houston. Patrick worked as an IT consultant designing and implementing client information systems and trading environments before he focused on a specialized career in Electronic Discovery. Patrick was the head of eDiscovery for Baker Botts, Chamberlain Hrdlicka, and Andrews Myers before joining his long-time business colleagues as a partner at Paradigm.
